This two volume reference for gastrointestinal and liver disease has been revised and updated into a very smart, useful modern textbook. It is extremely detailed, well referenced and researched. The text is easy to follow and set out in a structured and organised fashion. There are sections on diagnosis of conditions based purely on signs and symptoms – so it’s helpful in the real world!
Overall this is a thorough and complete gastroenterology reference text which I would recommend to everybody who works in this field.

Good images and text that make it readable into the section beyond the one you were looking up. Better than Medscape coverage for many conditions – particularly the images. Worth having.

Sleisenger and Fordtran's Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease e-dition is as good as it gets. The "e" edition is invaluable. It is updated automatically. I can travel anywhere and read "on-line" without lugging around heavy textbooks...and bringing the wrong volume. I have been impressed as I found that it is actually easier to read such a textbook on my notebook computer. Of course the text is well-written and the photography is better than ever.
