Comprehensive Physiology Textbook

This physiology textbook is for more advanced readers. It is not for those who are just starting physiology with little background knowledge. It has many helpful illustrations, and the book is well written. Other good textbook's include Vander's Physiology and Medical Physiology (Guyton). All are very good textbooks and very informative.

Too confusing for begginers,excellent if you know the basics

I have bought 4 physiology books during my medical studies and i am only a second year student! And i must say, that this book is definetely the best one, if you have the basic knowledge. If you are a new begginer though, it is very very difficult to start with this book, since the explanations are very detailed and require a certain level of 'scientific way of thinking'. There are many research examples and historical links, something that a student prepearing for an exam doesn't want to waste time on. Some of the explanations are too long and complicated, that one looses the initial idea of what the explanation was about.
On the other hand, if you are quite skilfull in physiology, this is a great book. The pictures are extraordinary and very scematic and understandable!!! You definetely get a lot for your money!
So, in conclusion, if you buy yourself a simpler physiology book and get the basics from there, Medical Physiology is the perfect choise to go on expanding your knowledge with. But don't buy it as your very very first physiology book. It will just confuse and frustrate you.

Life Changing Bible Study

When you read the workbook, you'll look back at generational bondage and discover the source of spiritual captivity. Then you'll learn tools for breaking free and step by step, this book will transform your life. In fact, the book was so powerful and popular, I'm now leading a study with 500+ women around the world participating.

Women reading the book are learning that this Beth Moore bible study is like taking apart every little destructive thought cell, and replacing it with truth based on scripture. Maternal-Child Nursing Study Guide

The study guide work book is okey. I've only read a few chapters on the actual txt book and doing the study guide really helps because it summarizes the content of the txt book. I recommend this study guide work book for both OB and Peds.

Decent contents but in need of quality editing

I used this book for my recent healthcare communications class. While the information contained within the book was quite informative, the text itself was not well written. There were large numbers of run-on sentences and I even spotted the word 'reckon' within the text. The word 'reckon' should never be included in formal writing. In fact, the only appropriate place for the word 'reckon' is as a quote, either in fictional dialogue or as a quote of a real person. The poor writing forces the reader to glean the information from the text, hampering the ability of the reader to gain much from reading it. I hope the publisher and/or authors deal with this in future editions. It could be a great textbook once these issues are addressed.

Not enough respect for readers

Book is mostly about respect, but it looks that the authors need to develop a new aspect of self-respect: to say the same they wanted to in fewer words, probably 1/20 from the written amount. The book is very hard to read, it seems to be a poor translation from another language. Sometimes in the end of long sentence you see that they already have forgotten what was in the beginning. Nevertheless, when you finally dig out a thought from the pile of word litter, it might be an interesting one.

Strengths: Balanced, objective, good references, non-critical.

Weaknesses: Long, sometimes states the obvious, choppy theoretical discussions.

Fair Pelvic Floor Book

Unfortunately, the writing is not descriptive enough for a medical student or resident to understand the material because Campbells Urology discussion on the Pelvic Floor also lacks teaching specifics. It is not officially an Atlas , however, it does include a DVD featuring several commonly practiced procedures but the filming is very amateurish with a far back over the surgeons shoulder view instead of a close up so that the point of view is 2-4 inches from the vaginal. The color balance in poor. They obviously film these procedures themselves and are not well versed in the operation of the camara. This is not a high definition DVD. The text can be considered self serving because it is presented as if the writers are the best in the world which again can be an unnecessary and poorly incorporated approach for a teaching video. The text suffers from the same. They need to also get a professional digital artist to better illustrate the diagrams and edit the jpegs. The opersative pictures are a low level pixel count probably 3-4 million while now 25 million pixel camara's are available. I really feel of all the pelvic floor text books in circulation this one is the least valuable from an education and production stand point. Clearly better and more technology savy surgeons are need to better shape this text. It has remained consistently behind the technological capabilities at the time of writing.

An excellent resource for Female Urology Fellows

This book is the best one out there on the subject of female urology. The book is by no means a replacement for the experience of a fellowship, but the book is a valuable resource for anyone doing a fellowship in female urology. Even if you do not do repairs as Dr. Raz does them, the book gives a thorough perspective on ways to safely perform a variety of complex operations with good success. Most chapters are descriptive enough that you get the idea of the operation. But again, without completing a fellowship or some other experience to gain significant mentored operative time in female urology, it would be nearly impossible to perform the majority of the procedures described in this book. I highly recommend this book for Fellows.

Good basic and review text

This work is an excellent textbook or review source for tooth morphology, dental histology and embryology. The text is more geared for the education of hygienists than for dentists. The format is clear, to the point, yet it is quite comprehensive for its length. The sidebar clinical examples for the application of the accompanying topic are excellent and helps see the value of the topics covered. I have elected to use it as a text for a dental morphology course in hygiene school.

Embryology and Histology chapters could be better

I did not like this book because the more challenging chapters were confusing (histology and embryology). I could quote what the book said, but I didn't really understand it. My teacher even had a hard time explaining it to us. This book really needs some kind of picture with words, diagrams and arrows so that you can follow the sequence easier. Or maybe it could just go through the sequence of each of the 3 tissues that everything originates from, instead of lumping them all together and letting you figure it out. Maybe a CD with a visual sequence would be helpful too, seeing as how now you just have to try and visualize how all the tissues come together, which can be confusing. I did like the flashcards it came with, however, I think it would have been helpful to put all the same together, for example 8+9 max central incisors on the same card and then just label R and L. Also, be sure to look at the back of the book at the few charts it has for ages of tooth eruption; I didn't even know they were there.
