An Exciting New Star Wars Series

I've been a big fan of the Star Wars books for several years, and I'm excited to see this new series of books.

In this exciting debut to the series, Grand Master Jedi Luke Skywalker has been banished from Coruscant by Natasi Dalaa for ten years. Luke has been banished for failing to recognize and take action against Jacen Solo's fall to the dark side. Jacen eventually became Darth Caedus, and his fall caused a great civil war in the galaxy. Determined to learn what caused Jacen's fall, Luke and his son Ben have begun their exile by journeying to the planet Dorin. Luke hopes to learn from the native Kel Dors what caused Jacen's turn. But, once there, Luke and Ben discover that the Kel Dors have many secrets of their own.

But Luke's exile is only the first step of action against the Jedi. Other Jedi knights now must have observers accompany them and an influential Jedi named Valin Horn suffers a psychotic break. These events have cast a pall over the entire Jedi order.

Meanwhile, Han Solo and Leia have been summoned by Lando Calrissian to the planet Kessel. Lando owns a profiable mining operation on the planet, but something mysterious is occurring below the surface; something that could destroy Lando, Han, Leia, and the rest of the planet.

I found this book to be full of action and very well-written. The story is very good and the author provides glimpses into the past to keep readers up to speed with the characters. It's fun to read about old favorites Luke, Leia and Han roaming the galaxy again. I've read many of the previous Star Wars novels, and I'd rate this one as one of the best. I'm eagerly anticipating reading book two of the series.

I give this book my highest recommendation. Star Wars fans will surely enjoy this great beginning to an exciting new series of adventures.

Couldn't Put it Down

I really enjoyed this book. it's been a while since i couldn't put down a novel. Outcast is well done. it throws you right into the story withing the first few pages. This story will keep you entertained the whole time. One thing that i really enjoyed of this book was the Jedi philosophy and the examining of it through Luke's eye. I also like the comedic dialogue between Luke and Ben, and Jaina and Jag. As i said, i loved it and was shocked by a lot of it. Can't wait for the next one.

Decent Start to the Series

This must be the most unlucky family in the entire galaxy. The Skywalker/ Solo families are both back and back in action. The plots are getting more convoluted, but Allston still makes it interesting.

Valin Horn's delusional, Jaina playing rogue Jedi roundup, Luke's blamed for Jacen's sins of several years before, Ben follows his father into Exile, Luke sets out to follow Jacen Solo's footsteps only to find a conspiracy, ho-hum just another day in the galaxy far, far away.

Powerful Bible study

This is one of the best Bible studies I have ever done. The publisher describes it as: "Breaking Free draws numerous parallels between the lives of the captive Israelites and personal issues that may bind us today." I've done it twice in the past five years and would do it again and know I'd learn new things.

The Amazon catalog page is not helpful in telling you what you get with the leader kit. According to the Lifeway catalog, you get DVDs (doesn't say how many) that contain the 11 video sessions, one member book (the workbook with the daily sessions), and a leader guide. If you are doing this with a group, you'll need to order member books for the participants along with the leader kit. You could do the Bible study just with the workbooks and you would get a lot out of it, but the real reason to buy the Leader Kit is to get the DVDs with Beth Moore's video teaching sessions. Those are really powerful.

The member books are large (about 8" x 10") paperback books with each week's material divided into five days of homework. The home work gets you into the Bible to look up and read various passages and answer questions. Sometimes it is a simple fill in the blank, sometimes it is a more extensive answer from the Bible passage, and sometimes the questions require that you look into your own life and/or family history. In between the parts you have to fill in, there is teaching material to read to understand the lesson and what you've been reading in the Bible. The homework will take at least 30 minutes for each day and but could take as much as an hour. You will get as much benefit out of the homework as the time and effort you put into it.

When you do the Bible study in a group, you typically start out in a small group to discuss the previous week's lessons. In my church, we have an hour for that portion. Then all the small groups get together to watch the video. The member books have a page for each video session with blanks to fill in and places to take additional notes. The videos are typically around an hour long and -- as I mentioned before -- they are really really good.

Beth Moore targets her Bible studies for women. They are very much women-centric but I know women whose husbands have done this study with them at home. I recommend "Breaking Free" and "Believing God" (another Beth Moore Bible study) to all the Christian women I know. I'd give this Bible study more than 5 stars if I could.

After reading the book, Breaking Free, I was anxious to go through the series with a few friends. It was all I had hoped for and actually more. I would recommend this series to any woman--it will inspire and encourage and instruct.

I love this Bible Study..It is about the study of the wilderness wondering for Israel after they were released from captivity in Egypt.
WE all have our own wildernesses to deal with and it is amazing how Pricilla tackles takes this study and applies it to our everyday lives.

clearly a must read

I appreciate that these are important conversations that Christian mothers should have with their daughters, but I'm a little sad that the need for a book like this is so great. Having taught high school for a dozen years, I'm aware that even in loving Evangelical homes, girls are not being adequately prepared for the emotional mangler that awaits many of them them when they grow up. This is clearly a must read.

Very great resource

While it is not a book I would read straight through, when I need to look up specific information on etiology, bacteria (biofilms), or treatment options this is my favorite resource. It's evidence oriented with specific references to hundreds of studies I would never be able to find or research on my own, I'm confident the evidence & conclusions here are accurate. In addition I've attended a lecture by one of the contributing periodontists, Dr. Sottosanti & found him wonderfully unbiased, authoritative, informed, & very evidence oriented. The depth & scope of the information in this book is critical to helping me make dental decisions. A challenging but rewarding read.

I have wanted this book as it is one of the best book for dental undergraduate student. It is not easy to get this edition in these days, especially in my area.

As written by seller, this book is in its very good condition, insides are clean and no highlighting - good as new, except the cover backbone is a bit torn - not a big issue.

I would recommend this to my friend.

Paediatric rheumatology is often a mysterious specialty for the uninitiated, containing a number of diseases with a reputation for being unusual and rare. However, collectively the rheumatological conditions are not that uncommon, and most clinicians will have seen children afflicted by them. Cassidy et al’s book is one way to tackle these conditions and explore paediatric rheumatology in a comprehensive way.

The book is well written by several of the recognised experts in the world of paediatric rheumatology. As every good textbook should, it starts with a basic introduction to the subject then works its way around the underlying anatomical and immunological concepts required to understand the disease processes. The burgeoning knowledge and importance of individual and population genetics is reviewed and explained, and another chapter discusses the sometimes unfamiliar drugs used for children and adolescents with inflammatory conditions. A useful chapter revises the concepts behind clinical investigations rounds off the initial ground work.

The rest of the book concentrates on the assessment and management of all the musculo-skeletal inflammatory and non-inflammatory disorders of childhood. Each group of diseases are placed into context and then described and discussed. There are many tables and figures to aid understanding and consolidate learning. The only slight problem is the occasional lack of consistency in the terms used for the now accepted Juvenile Idiopathic arthritis.

Overall the Textbook of Paediatric Rheumatology will retain its place as the standard for its subject.
