Great addition to Bible Study

This book goes right along with the book and it also adds a little more insight and personal meditation on the Word of God. I like that it piggy backs the lessons in the book and it can be also used with the video. It seems like a book that is better suited for small groups, in order to really gain higher insight and perspective.

Great introduction to Kay Arthur studies

This study was produced by Lifeway, not Precept which is Kay Arthur's publishing ministry. It is a great introduction on how Kay Arthur studies a topic using the Bible as the textbook, not with a particular viewpoint or slant, but using the inductive method, that is, discover the meaning for yourself. If you are familiar with using Kay Arthur materials, you may think that this study is too "lite", but it has a lot to offer. I did this with groups twice. It is especially good for groups who have little background in digging into scripture and thinking on their own. It is meant to be used with the DVDs. At the beginning of each week, is a page to fill in from the video. Otherwise, the work is all reading and digging on your own. If you want to just work on prayer without the video, just buy Lord Teach me to Pray in 28 days by Kay Arthur.

A comprehensive, "must have" reference

Magee's text is the most comprehensive, practical text covering diagnosis and evaluation of orthopedics I've found. I recommend it without reservation to anyone involved in neuro-musculo-skeletal examination and diagnosis, including athletic trainers, sports medicine specialists, primary care physicians, physiatrists, and physical therapists.
OPA is organized to include applied anatomy, patient history, detailed examination techniques (including all the eponymous tests), diagnostic imaging, and case studies for each joint of the body. Also included are chapters on Gait, Posture, Emergency Sports Assessment, and Preparticipation Examination.
From a physician's viewpoint, the text lacks only a discussion of therapeutic approaches. However, these hinge fundamentally on the physical diagnosis and lie more in the realm of physical therapists.

Great contribution to medical education, poor photographs

I bought this textbook together with Ferri's Clinical advisor with great enthusiasm. Though this book has fewer contributors, it offers enormous amount of information on physical assessment. Other than the reference pages at the end of each chapter, you cannot spot a single page that does not have a drawing, a photograph, charts, tables, or tips. You cannot resist but feel great appreciation to the hard work invested in this masterpiece.

In the era of Internet, when many folks opted to stay away from books, this book's style offers very competitive alternative to electronic media. The only drawback is its blurred black and white photos. Although the author attempted to compensate for such deficit by many informative drawings, yet better quality photos help contemporary readers to stay focused longer during reading.

Of course, the book is about physical assessment so it stops short of complete orthopedic textbook. Each joint is discussed in terms of its applied anatomy, history taking, examination, and ends by case studies, followed by extensive lists of references. In addition to regional assessments of joints, chapters 14 and 15 discuss the assessment of gait and posture, chapter 16 of the amputee, chapter 17 of emergency sports, and chapter 18 of physical evaluation prior to participation in sport. The eighteen chapters extend over a 1000 large sized pages with two color printing, which make its reading a breathe.

Good reference, not quite what I expected

It was probably my fault for not giving the book 5 stars. I was expecting a book that would be a little easier to use in practice. This book does a really good job of giving various physical exam tests. It has lots of good pictures and other graphics. My two complaints, and what bumped this book down to a 4 instead of a 5, is that it is a little too "all over the place" with the exam. I would have preferred a book that helped me to focus. In that respect, Cooper's Pocket Guide and Hoppenfeld's physical exam book are much better. Also, I would have liked to have some treatment sections in this book. Still, all in all it's a good buy.

I really wanted to read this book because it was on the topic of marriage. I love being married and am continuously looking for ways to enhance my marriage and myself. This book looked especially interesting though because it is about what happens after your whirlwind fairy tale romance culminates in the big wedding every girl dreams about and real life starts. I was one of those little girls the author writes about that grew up on a large dose of fairy tale stories and Disney movies. Even now into my adulthood I love watching romantic comedy movies and reading romances that seem like retellings of the same story. I had been planning my wedding since I was a girl and my husband (bless his heart) for the most part let me plan it how I wanted…and you guessed it, my theme was Happily Ever After. So you can imagine that when I saw this book and what it was about, it just spoke to me and sounded like something I NEEDED to read.

I am giving this book a full five star rating. Not only does it have a BEAUTIFUL cover, it was just awesome. I could not put this book down. It was honest, funny, and inspirational. I finished it in one sitting and I just feel like it spoke to me in so many ways, especially as a Christian wife. I definitely feel like in having God play a central role in our marriage, my husband and I have started out on a really strong foundation but there are still little things I learned during our first years of marriage that were just confirmed/reflected in the narrative of this book. I wish I had read this book when I was newly married (I still feel like a newlywed sometimes). I have been married for five years and I don’t yet have any children so this book helped me to understand alot of things about juggling wifehood, personhood and motherhood. I’m grateful for having read this book at this time in my life as well, because I feel like I needed to learn alot of what is shared in this book for when I do have children. I think one of the most valuable lessons in this book has to do with appreciating what you have instead of always focusing on the what I need next aspect of life. I am a victim of castle envy and just recently my husband and I toured a home that I have dubbed “our next home” that is way out of our price range but that I just fell in love with. Reading this book helped me to understand that it’s just a house and my home now is precious to me and good enough. As far as marriage goes, it reaffirmed something that I figured out early into my marriage and that we are faithful to which is to never stop dating your spouse.

I think this book is a treasure trove of advice and lessons for women. If someone had given this to me when i first got married I feel like it would have helped me SO much in times when things were less than perfect in my marriage. Don’t get me wrong, my marriage is amazing and wonderful but all marriages are imperfect and take work just like we do as individuals as well but I just feel like this book would have helped me through rough times. I feel like after having read it, I will treasure it for years to come. There were alot of things in this book that I felt relief at for not being alone in wondering this or thinking like that. I plan on recommending this book to other wives that I know and for giving this book to brides at bridal showers. I cannot stress enough how WONDERFUL this book is, not only through the perspective of a Christian wife but even just through the perspective of a wife. I am 100% sure that I will return to these pages time and again. I highly recommend this book to women (I even feel like men would find wisdom in it’s pages). Give this book a read and then come back and let me know your thoughts! I am planning on checking out other books by this author as I loved her writing style. It was so easy to read and get into that my reading experience of this book was fantastic and it just flew by.

Book is fantastic

I am very happy that I ordered this book, I ran across in Heme Lab while doing internship. I ordered this edition as it has better reviews than newer edition?? I find it very understandable while providing enough detail....I also find that it is very logically set up. The author, B. Rodak introduces subjects as appropriate...and then lets the reader know that subject will be dealt with in later chapters. I used two other books in course work, one of which was way too involved,,,the other looked like an exercise in "copy and paste". I am using this book to prepare for ASCP exam....
Also..I like the case studies that she has at beginning of chapter, try and answer without reading chapter and then go back after the chapter...

mostly pathology not function

this book from a glance deals mostly with the pathology of the endocrine system, not a straight forward text covering the function of the system. The text font is painfully small as well. Not what I was looking for. The book is daunting and by going through it in a cursory way have decided not to waste my time. Furthermore Doctors today are pretty much incapable of curing acid reflux, so the fact that the authors (doctors) try and root out the cause of endocrine disease is dubious. If you want to feed a hypochondriac appetite this might be for you. Learn the vitamins and minerals, and you'll be all set.

I wish I would have had this book when I was going to school. This book not only defines virtually every medical term but elaborates on essential areas. The beginning of the book is a color atlas of all body systems. eg. Skeletal,GI, Cranial Nerves, Muscles ect. It is then organized as a Dictionary from A-Z. There are clear pictures to help elaborate on definitions and explanations. An example is in the area of Intercranial Pressure. Not only is it defined, it is also explained in detail including ICP monitoring devices and pictures for easy understanding. I have been a nurse for a long time and found this book to be a wonderful reference.... in all areas of nursing.... Everyone on the unit wants to borrow this book and many have already purchased it themselves.
