About the Authors:

Henry T. Blackaby is founder of Blackaby Ministries International and former special assistant to the presidents of the following agencies of the Southern Baptist Convention: International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and LifeWay Christian Resources. His father was a deacon and helped start churches in Canada as a lay pastor. Henry is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He has four honorary doctor’s degrees. He pastored churches in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas before going to Faith Baptist Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Henry also served as a director of missions in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has written dozens of books and has spoken in 200 countries in churches and conferences. He counsels Christian CEOs of major companies and has spoken in the White House and the United Nations. He and his wife Marilynn have five children: Richard, Thomas, Melvin, Norman, and Carrie. All five children are serving in full-time Christian ministry.

Richard Blackaby is Henry’s oldest son. He holds a PhD in history from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as an honorary doctorate from Dallas Baptist University. He has served as a pastor and a seminary president. He is currently the president of Blackaby Ministries International. He is married to Lisa. They have three children: Mike, Daniel, and Carrie. Richard has co-authored a dozen books with his father as well as authoring CrossSeekers, Putting a Face on Grace, and Unlimiting God.

Excellent!

I ordered the Experiencing God study for our church small groups. This study is excellent! Easy to follow with clear and concise content. I like the fact that it always pushes the student toward listening to God and following God, not man. I am excited about using the videos as part of the curriculum... I have only previewed the first session and it was fairly good. Don't get the videos if you are looking for something fast paced or highly produced. It is simple and straightforward, showcasing the author and his son basically speaking from a lectern. Not very exciting, but still, good solid content. I highly recommend this series to any church looking to do an in-depth study.

You'll never be the same!

In May, '10 I will complete leading this Bible study for the seventh time! I have watched 'mature' Christians grow as well as new ones blossom. I've seen people do this as their first study and their 20th... all have been grateful for their insights and fuller relationship with God. In many cases people became validated in the lives they've already lived. Don't miss this opportunity. Ordering Error!

I thought I had ordered multiple copies of the Paperback version of Experiencing God, but instead had ordered 20 Leaders Guides by mistake. (I believe the website had a typo) The next morning, when I received the order verification I realized my mistake. I tried to reverse the order, which had yet to be shipped, but was advised that I could not do this. They would not let me cancel this order and order the correct item, which was unfortunate for them because my subsequent order was worth more money to them.
I purchased the paperbacks from another site, and will be giving the leaders guides to anyone who completes this course at our church and wants one. If you are contemplating ordering this course, especially in bulk, for yourself or church group read the product description carefully to ensure you receive what you want!

I love this book! She teaches a very simple and effective way to do an in depth study of God's Word. You can apply the strategies learned here to any passage in scripture.
I think of the saying, "if you catch a man a fish, you give him a meal. But if you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime." Anne Grahm Lotz has taught me how to study God's word for my self and I have used this strategy to teach others as well.

About the Author
Dr. David Platt, President of the International Mission Board, is deeply devoted to Christ and His Word. David’s first love in ministry is making disciples, sharing, showing, and teaching God’s Word in everyday life. He has traveled extensively to serve alongside church leaders throughout the United States and around the world.

A life-long learner, David has earned two undergraduate and three advanced degrees. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (A.B.J.) from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theology (Th.M) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He previously served at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary as Dean of Chapel and Assistant Professor of Expository Preaching and Apologetics, Staff Evangelist at Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans, and eight years as the Senior Pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL. David has written several books, Radical, Radical Together, Follow Me and most recently Counter Culture (to be released February 2015). He also has a radio program on Moody Radio, Radical with David Platt, that can be heard around the world and features past sermons and teaching from David’s ministry.

David founded Radical (Radical.net), a ministry devoted to serving churches and disseminating disciple-making resources toward the end that the gospel might be made known in all nations.

SOLID MATERIAL!

We used this for our teenage Sunday school class. The material was as solid as it gets. It was very challenging for the group. With all of the questionable material out there these days it was nice to see some solid and challenging material.

I teach in both RN and Psych Tech Programs in the state of California, and I can tell you that this book makes an excellent text when studying the field of Pyschiatry. It is an excellent book for those persons entering the field of Nursing or Mental Health. Not only does the book define classic mental conditions such as schizophrenia, psychosis, depression, obsessive/compulsive disorders and all the other basic mental disorders, it also allows for the "theraputic use of self" when the student encounters someone who is in need of an individualized interpersonal response. A person can only go so far utilizing a Nursing Care Plan; the art of Psych Nursing is one that is discovered daily and under many unique and challenging conditions. This book serves as a valuable guiding light; it is a book for reference, and a great scientific base to all things Psych.
Critical Thinking excersises are also included, which will help the student prepare for the State Board Exams that they are all heading towards passing this exam as their goal.
I think that this book added to any Psych cirriculum will be a golden touch to the program it seeks to help.
This text also defines medications used to treat mental disorders, gives pharmacologic overviews and precautions.
Newer psych diagnosis, such as "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which generally belongs in the teen patients is discussed on page 468 and makes for some interesting reading.
One possible outcome that may result as a by-product of studying this text is that one may "diagnose" persons in their life that are not "patients."
Thus the borderline diagnosis line of disorders can be the basis of much controversy at times.
Get this book - read it - study it - use it as a reference and it will open up the world of Modern Psychiatry for you in ways that you will appreciate and value.

This book explains all you need to know about Psych. This was a required text for my class but it actually has very good information and is very understandable. Tons of vignettes to help you apply the information. Would highly recommend!

Good book for class

I used this book when furthering my license. The material was well laid out so that reading didn't become too monotonous or boring. Included case studies don't seem practical (there's only so many "pause for silence" I can handle before I laugh at the thought of mentally acknowledging silence in the field). All and all a good text book for psych nursing.

"I have been practicing for 20 years and have never written to anyone I didn't know regarding a publication. However, I just wanted to thank you and congratulate you for your recent publication by Elsevier. I received the book on Friday and don't know which chapter to read next. It should be a mandatory text for physical therapy schools because of how it covers the fundamentals and basics. It is sometimes difficult to provide cutting edge material in books because of the publishing process, but you have done a great job. I plan on exposing the text to all students, physicians and health care professionals who cross my path. Since my last few years of practice have focused on pediatric sports medicine and childhood obesity, I will take the information and apply it accordingly to the growing and developing body. Thanks again for your wonderful contribution."

"I would recommend this book as essential for fellow physiotherapists who are either near the completion of their course or recently qualified, as well as people studying similar subjects.
I chose this book as a companion for the many textbooks I have which give the methodology of assessment techniques but do not cover the theory in depth. The text is easy to read yet still very comprehensive and summary boxes throughout the text provide the key points in a clear, concise way....The content covers everything you could want when working within the field of musculoskeletal rehabilitation. It includes a chapter on psychology, effects of aging, nerves and neurophysiology, pharmacology etc as well as the topics you would expect. It is not a quick reference textbook but if you need a through understanding of the background behind musculoskeletal rehab it is perfect."

In my opinion, this is a very complete book with the best information.
No doubt, it is impossible to imagine a good physiotherapist without the knowledge that is inside this book.

adequate but lacking

This text provides a very good background for understanding the biology behind tissue healing as it relates to physical therapy practice. However, the text lacks specific information on some essential properties of human tissue. Specifically,(for example) any discussion of the arcs of Benninghoff is absent, specific discussions of bone healing are not in depth, appropriate discussions of hormonal balance and bone physiology is also lacking, and a complete discussion of collagen and the properties and biology of collagens is missing as well as an in depth understanding of the mechanical properties of articular cartilage. Also absent is an in depth discussion of the mechanical properties of human tissue in general.

Overall the text suffices for introductory understanding of tissue properties however as a classroom text it must be supplemented with relevant articles to `plug the holes'. The references provided via CD are awkward for the learner to use and in my study of those references there are too many 'books' being used as the main citation for important concepts. Also many of the figures have been "borrowed" from other texts. It seems that these authors have simply repackaged , in an incomplete manner the works of previous authors without giving due consideration to the updated evidence. The more i read the more 'incomplete' this text becomes. It is better to use Gray's Anatomy (British Edition) and supplement with relevant and current literature.
